What to Expect The Field Quality team’s mission is to improve customer experience of Tesla products by reducing field issues. The role is responsible for our charging product portfolio including, but not limited to Super & Mega charger, Optimus Charging and Wall connector and works cross functionally with other engineering and service teams. We are seeking a multi-faceted engineer who will be responsible for all aspects of identifying, analyzing, root causing, implementing countermeasures, and reporting on issues affecting products. To be effective, the Field Quality engineer will need to be intimately familiar with the detailed behavior of our Energy Products and the tools and equipment used in their design and manufacture. They will work with other engineering teams to quickly mitigate and implement countermeasures of field issues to improve quality, reliability, and durability of the products. What You’ll Do - Monitor products field performance, identify trending issues. Prioritize based on severity, occurrence, and/or cost of each failure mode - Triage emerging trends and use engineering first principals to come up with failure hypothesis - Coordinate efforts with the Failure Analysis team to identify root causes of problems - Apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical engineering and PCBA manufacturing to drive containment and corrective action implementation into production / design / supplier / Firmware - Communicate field performance of the engineering system, gather buy-in from engineering leadership on improvement priorities and urgency - Drive continuous improvement in design and performance by providing direct and accurate feedback to design owners - Share Lessons Learned from previous field issues; Provide upfront feedback by participating in design reviews to ensure product performance, reliability, and manufacturability issues are identified and risks mitigated (DFMEAs) - Take part in ongoing optimization of the products and processes (performance, cos
